Sunday morning found Kei Tan running. The run started at 2am (assembly at 1am). The distance: a crazy 40+ kilometers.
That’s about the distance from Sta. Rosa, Laguna to Buendia, Manila (a 1-hour drive). News is, she finished it.
Everyone has her own quirks, but this Kei person is just… random. But her friends are always there to tolerate support her. One time, she decided, she must learn how to play the violin. Her friends were there to listen to her music.
Kei’s latest, uh, curiosity is running. Marathons, especially. She’s been running for some time now, but last Sunday was the toughest since it’s about 4 hours (onwards) of running-walking on cold pavement and hills before the break of dawn. To prepare for this, she would jog around the UPLB campus (round and round the Freedom Park and up to the Forestry) for weeks, if not months.
During the marathon, while she was having her idea of solitary fun, her friends and ubermensch were waiting at the finish line. Rain or shine, man. With injury and all. Yihee.
While waiting, it’s fascinating to look around, like this marathoner who came second–he’s wearing sandals instead of those branded running shoes.
There’s also a couple who doesn’t try to hide their partnership:
And there’s Sec. Dinky Soliman supporting KeiΒ her daughter who ran.
There were also Maricel Laxa and Christine Jacob (the 90s haunting the present!) and also Kuya Kim Atienza with his cool biking outfit and mountain bike.
But the attention grabbers were the two wedding proposals–one guy ran ahead to pop the question as soon as the lady finished the course. Sugar rush in Nuvali. Hihi!
And then there’s the comic relief, Spongebob.
At past 8, the ubermensch felt Kei coming so he called the cheerers to meet the marathoner.
Then, some private moments. But one friend needs to document. π
This power couple is some force to be reckoned with.
Their appetizer used to be the Slovenian academic superstar, Β Slavoj Zizek, or Nietzsche. Dessert is a scoop of tennis talk.
Looks like N also supports K’s peculiarities–as he jogged with her (once? twice?) up Β in Makiling’s territory. This N person–being an Ilongo that he is–is really sweet. See photo on the right.
It’s also worth mentioning here, that it’s not only Kei who has athletic disposition. See Kitchie throw that Frisbee. You can’t tell it’s her first time, can you?
She stopped after some time of playing Frisbee with a Chinese looking guy who approached her. Hmmm. Sexy sports, Frisbee. Way to go, Kitchie! π
All in all, it was a lovely Sunday morning.
Congrats, Kei!

Hi! Correct me if I’m wrong.
Is “Kei Tan” “Katrina Tan”?
Nice blog by the way. π

Oh, I know her nga. I was just browsing the net kanina–searching for a term actually, and I landed on your site, particularly on this post.
Anyway, she was my schoolmate in Perpetual (Binan, Laguna). π
Ah, cool! I dropped by your blog, too, and I think I’m gonna do that more often π im curious what word led you here.
Finally, I remember!!! My favorite “pastime” in the office is reading Youngblood articles online. I think the key word I used was Youngblood. I’m just not sure if I added other terms/words to the search. π Thanks! π
